Technical support to strengthen vaccine management and the vaccine cold chain in Morocco
The EVM initiative consists of tools designed by WHO and UNICEF to support countries in strengthening their vaccine supply chain at national, regional and service delivery levels. Morocco joined the initiative in 2023. At UNICEF’s request, EpiLinks supported the country in assessing vaccine supply chain performance and planning improvements. We assisted the country in setting up the assessment tool, trained supervisors and investigators, cleaned and analyzed field data, and helped decision-makers draw up a multi-year continuous improvement plan.
Among the plan’s priority actions was capacity-building for staff at all levels of the health pyramid. EpiLinks provided the country with assistance in developing an appropriate curriculum and training tools, trained a team of national trainers and supported this team in implementing training sessions for middle-level managers. The principles of adult training and teaching techniques were put forward in order to ensure a participative approach favoring the sharing of best practices and the adoption of norms and methods in line with national and international standards.
